George James Monk
1911-1993
George was an animal lover like no other. Animals and wildlife were an important part of his life. He was a "Grizzly Adams" and to witness him interact with animals was remarkable.
If there was a rabid guard dog barking and foaming at the mouth in full attack mode, George would walk right up with absolutely no fear and within a few moments the dog would submit and begin to wag its tail. When asked how he was able to control such a vicious animal. He would kindly explain these "so called vicious dogs" were more scared of us than we were of them then he would bid his farewell and be on his way.
One day the family walked in on George in the kitchen to a buzzing sound of a large striped bumble bee. These massive bees, or "Queen Bees" as they are sometimes referred, are particularly scary, especially if you have been chased by one. The bee had been tangled in a spider's web where George rescued her from her fate of being eaten by spiders.
George took the bee to his kitchen where he painstaking used his fingertips to gently pick the entangled web from the giant bee while it buzzed away. His work was meticulous and gentle. When George was satisfied he had removed every silky thread, he sat to admire her beauty in the palm of his hand. To everyone's astonishment, the bee did not sting him. She just walked around on his hand as if she knew he had saved her from being the spider's dinner.
George then took her to his garden and the family watched from the window as he held out his hand and she flew away. The photo above is of George in his garden around the time of this story.
There are many stories of George's special interaction with animals. To see their exchange of love, understanding and admiration was a unique experience.
That is why it is an honor for us to dedicate ImmortalPets.com to George Monk, a very special animal lover who watches over all the pets on our site until we cross over Rainbow Bridge to re-unite with them once again.
Phoenix Rising Group is also in the process of developing memorial websites that pay tribute to people, www.ImmortalLovedOnes.com. As well as www.ImmortalHeroes.com a site that pays tribute to fallen heroes such as
police officers, firefighters, and mentors. Whether our mentors be teachers, leaders, scholars; anyone we consider heroes in on our lives. Last but not least, we are building www.ImmortalMilitary.com a site that pays tribute to the armed forces fighting on behalf of their country.
Additionally, we will continue to improve our Immortal Pet website. Currently you can create a beautiful pet memorial with pictures, music, candles and pet tributes to honor the memory of your pet. Having a pet memorial to visit at any time of day helps to ease your pet loss and keeps precious pet memories alive forever.
We hope you will share your thoughts with us so that we may improve our sites for the benefit of others.
